The reasons for Rhodes’ departure from AEW weren’t fully confirmed, and both agreed not to discuss it publicly. Despite the well-received feud, he suffered a laceration in his chest that kept him out of action for about six months. After the injury, Rhodes returned to last month’s Royal Rumble, won the title match, and won the undisputed title at this year’s WrestleMania. He prepared to challenge Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship.

Rhodes has remained undefeated since his return last year and recently made an appearance at the Royal Rumble PLE. It was his first appearance since Hell in a Cell as he was sidelined with a torn pectoral muscle. Rollins is right that Rhodes is back for himself, explaining that American Nightmares returned to win the one title he missed his father, Dusty Rhodes.

Cody Rhodes Is The Next Big Thing!

Cody Rhodes is a fan of the classic WWE Championship design, the Winged Eagle, and says he may bring it back if he wins the title at WrestleMania. Rhodes talked about this idea in his latest episode of WWE’s The Bump. You can see the highlights below. “In my youth, the WWE I watched was really synonymous with the winged eagle. Some people like the design), but the winged eagle was a good fit for me.”

Rhodes is also a legitimate draw at WWE’s house shows. According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, after Rhodes won his Royal Rumble, there was a gradual spike in ticket sales for some of his live events. Additionally, Rhodes is reportedly the top merchandise mover in WWE since returning to the ring at the Royal Rumble. Rhodes is now the clear favorite to dethrone “Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns and emerge as the new Undisputed WWE Universal Champion at WrestleMania 39. Fans on social media believe an upcoming win could boost Rose as the promotion’s new face.
