Powerhouse Hobbs beat “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes on “AEW Collision” to progress in the men’s side of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, despite some intervention by QT Marshall. Hobbes will face “Absolute” Ricky Starks next, who defeated “Rock Hard” Juice Robinson earlier in the night.

The other semi-final bout will be decided in tonight’s main event, which features Roderick Strong vs. ROH World Television Champion Samoa Joe. The victor of Strong vs. Joe will face CM Punk, who progressed after defeating Satoshi Kojima at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.

The tournament’s women’s bracket has also proceeded, with Skye Blue and Willow Nightingale advancing thus far. Britt Baker, last year’s victor, was slated to play Ruby Soho in a rematch of last year’s final on Wednesday. Baker became sick, and the bout was postponed for next Wednesday’s “AEW Dynamite.”

Power House Hobbs vs Dustin Rhodes – AEW Collision

Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Dustin Rhodes in the first Men’s Owen Hart Cup First Round match. The bout ended with Rhodes landing a rough-looking Code Red for a near fall. This resulted in QT Marshall attempting to intervene only to be knocked unconscious by an uppercut from Rhodes. Hobbs then took advantage of the commotion to land a couple of splashes and a spine buster for a near fall.

Rhodes then threw Hobbs into the ropes and hit him with a snap power slam for a near fall before attempting a Figure Four Leglock, which Hobbs kicked out of, sending Rhodes into a ref-distracted blow by Marshall. Hobbs then hit a spine buster for the pinfall win, advancing to the Men’s Owen Hart Cup Semi-Final Round.
