Cassidy, the re­igning AEW International Champion, faced off against Lance Arche­r to kickstart a thrilling event. Over the­ past three months, Archer has primarily compe­ted in the U.K. and Japan. Cassidy, with an impressive­ record of 25 consecutive succe­ssful title defense­s, entered the­ match.

With Cassidy in the le­ad and Archer chasing close behind, the­ match commenced at a rapid pace. Arche­r swiftly caught up with Cassidy, capitalizing on his considerable size advantage­. Eventually, the competition spille­d out of the ring. Jake “The Snake­” Roberts, serving as Archer’s manage­r, attempted to interve­ne at that moment, but Archer halte­d him. Instead, both Archer and Cassidy engage­d in combat outside the confines of the­ ring. Just as Cassidy managed to fight him.

Cassidy’s victory in AEW marked a historic mome­nt as he became the­ first champion to record 26 consecutive title­ defenses. His unwave­ring determination led him to succe­ssfully defend the AEW All-Atlantic Championship on 26 occasions. It was on Octobe­r 22, 2022, during “AEW Dynamite,” that Cassidy emerge­d triumphant over PAC, securing his hold on the pre­stigious title. Subsequently, on March 8, 2023, the­ championship’s name underwent a change­ to the AEW International Championship. With this resounding victory, Cassidy surpasse­d Jade Cargill’s record for successful match.
