The seventh Battle of the Belts took place in Calgary, Alberta, Canada’s All Elite Wrestling. The event showcased the talent and excitement of Orange Cassidy
Cassidy, the reigning AEW International Champion, faced off against Lance Archer to kickstart a thrilling event. Over the past three months, Archer has primarily competed in the U.K. and Japan. Cassidy, with an impressive record of 25 consecutive successful title defenses, entered the match.
With Cassidy in the lead and Archer chasing close behind, the match commenced at a rapid pace. Archer swiftly caught up with Cassidy, capitalizing on his considerable size advantage. Eventually, the competition spilled out of the ring. Jake “The Snake” Roberts, serving as Archer’s manager, attempted to intervene at that moment, but Archer halted him. Instead, both Archer and Cassidy engaged in combat outside the confines of the ring. Just as Cassidy managed to fight him.
Cassidy’s victory in AEW marked a historic moment as he became the first champion to record 26 consecutive title defenses. His unwavering determination led him to successfully defend the AEW All-Atlantic Championship on 26 occasions. It was on October 22, 2022, during “AEW Dynamite,” that Cassidy emerged triumphant over PAC, securing his hold on the prestigious title. Subsequently, on March 8, 2023, the championship’s name underwent a change to the AEW International Championship. With this resounding victory, Cassidy surpassed Jade Cargill’s record for successful match.
