After AEW Blood & Guts, Kenny Omega made a commercial in which he said he would follow The Elite wherever they went.
Omega’s position was especially interesting because his deal was supposed to end early in 2023, but he got more time because he had to sit out in 2022. After AEW Blood & Guts, Kenny Omega made a commercial in which he said he would follow The Elite wherever they went. Some people thought this meant they were moving, while others thought it meant they were all staying in AEW. Dave Meltzer wrote in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that everyone seems to be sticking with AEW.
“The prevailing belief is that the Young Bucks, Kenny Omega and Adam Page are staying. The interview Omega did off the air in Boston would have led you to believe that is the case. The interview was also originally supposed to be on television, as was the handshake between the Golden Elite and BCC, which seemed to signal the end of the feud at this point.
If that Omega thing was on television with the mention of them sticking together, that’s where so many people believed they were staying and there was a no deal. None of those involved have said if that is what that line meant.”

When it was said that WWE was looking to sign a big free agent, there was a lot of talk about what would happen with Omega and AEW. Some people thought that the free agent was the previous AEW World Champion because his last deal was due to end in January. But it has since been said that his contract has been extended because of the nine months he missed because of an illness. Even though it’s still not clear how much time was added.
People have said that Omega might be open to a move, which makes the situation even more interesting. As the contracts of a number of top AEW stars run out, WWE is expecting to “go hard” to sign them. Omega was asked straight out if he wants to sign with WWE when he was on CBC’s Front Runner. Even though the question was straight, the former AEW World Champion was careful not to say too much.
“I think at this point anything new appeals to me and challenges also always, always appeal to me. At one point it was one of those, ‘if you say I can’t do it, I really want to do it’. Now it’s not that, I wouldn’t say I’m older and wiser it’s more like, I’m older and I care less about that it’s more about what kinds of people can I reach. What kind of positive thing can I contribute? And, what do I even feel best suited for?
