Jim Ross’s AEW contract is about to expire. So, it is possible he might become a free agent again. Many professional wrestling fans can’t remember a time when Jim Ross wasn’t a familiar voice at the commentary table. Ross has been an enthusiastic voice that fans have come to adore for decades, and he has had some of the best calls in the industry’s history.

Since 2019, he’s been giving his services to All Elite Wrestling (AEW), assisting with commentary and interviews, as well as serving as a senior advisor behind the scenes. However, his contract with AEW will expire shortly, although he is unconcerned about this.

Jim Ross spoke about his contract getting expired

Jim Ross would reveal on his Grilling JR podcast that he plans to return to AEW following his current health troubles – but that he doesn’t have much time left on his contract. The following is what Ross was quoted as saying.

“I will be back. I will continue working. My contract with AEW is still in place. I don’t have a lot of time left on it, but I’ve got enough. I’m not concerned about that. Either I’m retained, or I’m not. I’m just gonna take it a day at a time and see how it works out.

But I enjoy working for AEW. It’s fun to be part of a startup. I said that when I was hired. It’s great to see all these young guys start to come into their own, and I’d love to be there for the rest of the journey to help guide them along the way, almost in a talent relations type situation. I enjoy helping these kids.”

Will Jim Ross go back to WWE?

This is a situation that has the potential to go either way. Ross has often claimed that he likes working with Tony Khan, but he also has a long history with WWE. We can anticipate Ross to stay involved in the professional wrestling industry regardless of where he goes when his contract expires. AEW is extremely likely to make a solid offer to Ross, but anything is conceivable in the present industry scenario.
