During the news meeting after the show, a fan attacked Don Callis after Don had acted out an angle with AEW foe Kenny Omega. Then things started getting serious.

Bryan Alvarez of The Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online reported: “Everything was an angle up to that point, but then a fan who was apparently upset about what Don had said to Kenny jumped Don from behind, ripped his suit, concussed his eardrum and busted open his mouth while he was trying to choke out Don from behind. Don was screaming profanities at the fan before he was pulled off, and was said to be livid afterwards.”

Dave Meltzer later said on Wrestling Observer Radio that Callis was hurt in the fight, but that he is “okay.” This Wednesday in Boston, MA, AEW will air a special episode of Dynamite called Blood & Guts. Don is likely to be there.

This Wednesday, The Elite and Kota Ibushi will face The Blackpool Combat Club, PAC, and the Callis-managed Konosuke Takeshita in Blood & Guts. This is part of their ongoing story.

Don Callis was attacked in Tijuana

A fan struck AEW’s Don Callis at AAA Triplemania XXXI Tijuana last night, which is shocking. According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, Callis was attacked at the press meeting after Triplemania. Alvarez makes it clear that this was not a job, and he says that Don is going to San Diego to get medical help.

Callis was at Triplemania XXXI to build up to the Blood & Guts match on Wednesday. At last night’s show, Kenny Omega was going up against AAA Mega Champion El Hijo del Vikingo. Before the main event, Don came to the ring and said he was going to help Vikingo. Konnan stopped that by sending Callis to the back.

Then, at the press meeting after the show, Callis argued with Omega, which made Konosuke Takeshita attack the Best Bout Machine. As that fight was being broken up, however, a fan really did jump Don from behind.
