Yogeshwar Dutt is a professional freestyle wrestler from India. He won the bronze medal in the 60 kg division at the Summer Olympics in 2012. In 2013, the Government of India presented him with the Padma Shri. At the 2014 Commonwealth Games, he took home a gold medal. Yogeshwar Dutt, the third Indian wrestler to win an Olympic medal after K D Jadhav in 1952 and Sushil Kumar in 2008 and 2012, gave India’s medal total at the 2012 London Olympics a late boost on August 12 by winning a memorable bronze in the Men’s freestyle 60 kg. Yogeshwar had previously won a silver medal at an Asian qualification competition in Astana, Kazakhstan, where he lost to Iranian Masoud Esmaeilpour (2-3, 0-1) in the final, securing his spot in the 2012 Olympics.
By using his signature Fitele (leg twisting) technique, which he had used to win the bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics, Yogeshwar easily defeated another Scottish wrestler, Gareth Jones, in the quarterfinals. He had earlier defeated Scotland’s Alex Gladkov by a score of 4-0 in the pre-quarterfinals. Yogeshwar defeated Chamara Perera of Sri Lanka in the semifinal match in just two minutes, and three seconds, by using his go-to strategy once more. After gaining a 10-0 advantage in technical points, Yogeshwar triumphed with a score of 0-5.
Yogeshwar Dutt was born on November 2, 1982. Just nine days before Yogeshwar boarded the flight to Doha for the Asian Games, on August 3, 2006, his father passed away. He also suffered a knee injury, but despite all the mental and physical pain, he was still able to take home the bronze medal in the 60-kg division at the 15th Asian Games in Doha. Yogeshwar Dutt defeated Jevon Balfour of Canada 10-0 in the finals to win the gold medal in the men’s 65 kg freestyle division. To win the bronze medal, he eventually defeated his North Korean rival (0-1, 1-0, 6-0). In the final round, he was outstanding and won it in just 1:02 minutes. Dutt, an Indian freestyle wrestler and recipient of the Padma Shri award, has been appointed as the brand ambassador for Religare Enterprises, which will help promote all of its group companies.
