On his debut championship, Sagar Jaglan secured a comprehensive win in the final by 11-0 against an experienced Narsingh Yadav

On the first day of the National wrestling championships, world under-23 champion Aman Sehrawat roared back to win his semifinal and final matches to defend the men’s freestyle 57kg title at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium. Aman used his exceptional stamina and competitive skills to pull off an 11-7 victory in the semifinals against Atish Todkar, who had three times taken the lead. He came back from 5-6 down in the final to take down Udit three times and won by 11-6.

Punjab wrestler Sahil defeated the 2014 Commonwealth Games silver medalist and multiple Asian Championships medalist Satyawart Kadian. Sahil battled back to take a 4-3 lead with two minutes remaining and used his strong defence and quick counterattacks to win the 97kg final 6-3. Sujeet Kalkal, who won the junior world bronze medal, defeated Utkarsh Kale convincingly 10-0 to earn his first 65 kg title.

In his debut championship, Sagar Jaglan secured a comprehensive win in the final by 11-0 against an experienced Narsingh Yadav in the 74kg title clash. Sagar got past Narsingh who is also the 2010 Commonwealth Games champion and former world championship bronze medalist. The 18-year-old Sagar had previously stunned everyone with his performance by reaching the quarter-final in the 2022 World Championship Belgrade but lost his bronze medal bout.
