Kamaru Usman is currently a force to reckon with. As, in his welterweight reign, he is dominating each and everyone in all his fights. He beat former champion Tyrone Woodley to become the champion. He is not known as “The Nigerian Nightmare” for the show. He is one. He is not just a good fighter, but also, a good technical fighter. He is a very strong and difficult to understand opinion. In his career, he has only lost once and is the current reigning undisputed UFC welterweight champion. Usman made his MMA debut in 2012 and has been actively part of the community. He came to UFC in early 2015 and beat Leon Edwards via unanimous decision and his streak kept continuing and still he reigns supreme as the champ. So, here’s a list comprising his top fights.

UFC on FOX 17 – Kamaru Usman vs. Leon Edwards

Following his run on The Ultimate Fighter, Usman was set to meet Leon Edwards in his first official UFC event. Both combatants went the distance in a three-round bout on the early preliminary night in the Octagon in Orlando, Florida, in December 2015. Following a strong third-round performance, Usman’s vast wrestling expertise and grappling talents were too much for Edwards’ stand-up game, and The Nigerian Nightmare earned a unanimous decision victory.

UFC 235 – Usman vs. Tyron Woodley

Usman ultimately secured his championship chance at UFC 235: Jones vs. Smith in March 2019, after multiple notable main card performances. Usman fought then-champion Tyron Woodley for the UFC welterweight championship in the co-main event of this PPV. The Nigerian entered the battle as a significant underdog, but he once again dominated with his hybrid striking/clinching approach. Woodley went the distance but lost his championship to Usman, who won by majority decision, becoming the first African-born UFC champion, establishing himself as the finest welterweight fighter in the league, and launching a title reign that has lasted to this day.

UFC 245 – Usman vs. Colby Covington

In December 2019, the UFC’s top two welterweights came into the cage at UFC 245, where the newly minted champion would have to defend his belt for the first time after defeating Edwards nine months prior. The main event was a competitive battle that lasted until the last minute of the final round, when Usman landed a flurry of punches on Covington, claiming the victory (and successfully defending the belt) through TKO stoppage.
