Conor McGregor, the ex-champion in both featherweight and lightweight divisions, currently assumes the role of a coach on The Ultimate Fighter. However, McGregor’s enthusiasm got the best of him, resulting in an unexpected incident where he inadvertently knocked down one of his own fighters, Landon Quinones, during a spirited sparring session.

Amidst his recovery from a leg injury, McGregor has taken up the role of a coach for the highly anticipated 31st season of The Ultimate Fighter. Intriguingly, he is pitting his team of fighters against none other than the formidable UFC athlete Michael Chandler, who is rumored to be McGregor’s next opponent once the season concludes. While fans eagerly await confirmation from Dana White, the exact event that will showcase this epic showdown is yet to be officially announced.

McGregor seems to be recovering well from his injury

McGregor’s most recent appearance inside the Octagon took place at UFC 264 on July 10th, where he squared off against Dustin Poirier. Unfortunately, the Irish fighter experienced defeat in the first round when the ringside doctor intervened and halted the fight due to a technical knockout.

Suffering from a broken tibia, McGregor was unable to proceed, leading to a hiatus from active competition. For nearly 18 months thereafter, he diligently underwent physical therapy before making his triumphant return to the gym.

According to Quinones, the opportunity to spar with Conor McGregor proved to be an invaluable learning experience. Not only did the session enhance his physical prowess, but it also sharpened his mental acuity, transforming him into a more astute fighter overall.

Nevertheless, in the aforementioned video, Quinones candidly acknowledges that the intensity of the sparring session with McGregor took him aback. Contrary to his initial expectations, he found himself pleasantly surprised when McGregor unleashed a series of formidable “power shots” during their exchange.

Coach Conor exhibited minimal compassion when his fighter dropped to the ground, clutching his midsection. Instead of offering sympathy, he urged the fighter to rise and persevere despite the pain.

At the moment of this incident, McGregor found himself trailing 6-0 in the series, as Jason Knight from Chandler’s team prepared to face Quinones in the crucial quarter-final match of the season. Knight swiftly secured a submission victory over Quinones in a surprising turn of events, further bolstering Chandler’s flawless record to 7-0 against McGregor’s team. This outcome naturally prompts the question: Did McGregor’s actions inadvertently contribute to the downfall of his own team?
