Sean O'Malley predicts a comeback for Henry Cejudo as he takes on Marlon Vera at UFC 292.
Sean O’Malley predicts a comeback for Henry Cejudo as he takes on Marlon Vera at UFC 292. Following a narrow defeat against bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling at UFC 288 in May, Cejudo (16-3 MMA, 10-3 UFC) aims to regain his winning momentum. Set to clash with Vera (22-8-1 MMA, 14-7 UFC) at TD Garden in Boston on August 19, Cejudo seeks redemption in the octagon.
Having previously giving Sean O’Malley the only loss in his career, Marlon Vera enters the upcoming bout fresh from a split decision defeat against Cory Sandhagen at UFC on ESPN 43. Vera faced takedowns from Sandhagen on three occasions, leading O’Malley to anticipate that Olympic gold medalist wrestler Henry Cejudo will possess a significant grappling advantage in their forthcoming encounter.

“If ‘Chito’ comes out and fights like he fought against Cory – and is this a three-round fight? ‘Chito’ usually comes on tougher in the later rounds,” O’Malley said on “The BrOMalley Show” on his YouTube channel. “Henry looked good against Aljo. He didn’t gas. It’s not like Henry’s gonna go out there and gas against ‘Chito.’
O’Malley spoke about how Frankie Edgar’s took “Chito” Vera down and exerted control, although ultimately succumbing to a late third-round finish. Sean O’Malley speculates that Henry Cejudo will likely secure victory, based on his prediction that Cejudo will employ similar takedown and hip control strategies to neutralize Vera’s offense.
“Frankie Edgar took ‘Chito’ down and laid on him, ended up getting finished late in the third round obviously. But he was able to take him down, and control his hips, and not let him really do much from there. If I had to guess right now, early prediction, I think Henry gets the job done.”
Stepping into the main event of UFC 292, Sean O’Malley, known as “The Suga Show,” will take on bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling. After experiencing a TKO defeat at the hands of Vera in August 2020, O’Malley rebounded with an impressive undefeated streak of five fights, culminating in a narrow victory over former champion Petr Yan at UFC 280 in October.
