Amidst swirling rumors of Ronda Rousey bidding farewell to WWE following the culmination of her intense rivalry with Shayna Baszler, the air is abuzz with speculation this week, suggesting that the formidable Rowdy One might venture back into the realm of UFC once her current WWE stint concludes.

Fans yearning for Ronda Rousey’s triumphant return to the Octagon may want to temper their expectations, according to reputable combat sports journalist Ariel Helwani, who happens to be a favored interviewer of Tony Khan. Quashing any hopes fueled by speculation, Helwani asserts that there is no veracity to the swirling rumors suggesting Rousey’s imminent comeback to the UFC.

Ronda Rousey took the MMA world by storm

In her tenure with the UFC, Ronda Rousey catapulted herself to the pinnacle of global sports stardom. Making waves with her remarkable performances in Strikeforce, Rousey etched her name in history as the first-ever woman to sign with the UFC in 2012. Holding the prestigious title of the reigning Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Champion at the time of the UFC’s assimilation of the promotion, Ronda was crowned the inaugural UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion.

Ronda Rousey’s illustrious fight career was marked by her penchant for swift triumphs and impressive armbar submissions. Out of her initial 12 professional bouts, a remarkable 11 were concluded within the first round, solidifying her reputation as a dominant force in the octagon. The sole exception was her epic encounter at UFC 168, where she showcased her tenacity by securing a third-round armbar submission victory over the resilient Miesha Tate.

Holly Holm derailed the hype train

The highly anticipated UFC 193 proved to be a defining moment in Ronda Rousey’s career as her unprecedented dominance came to a resounding halt at the hands of Holly Holm. In a stunning turn of events, Holm secured a second-round victory by delivering a devastating head kick, followed by a series of punches to the grounded Rousey.

However, Rousey remained undeterred and made her return to the octagon at UFC 207. Unfortunately, her comeback was short-lived as she faced a formidable opponent in the form of then-UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes, who swiftly finished the bout in the first round.

Following her defeat in December 2016, Ronda Rousey embarked on an extended hiatus from the Octagon, stepping away from the competitive realm of mixed martial arts. In 2017, she made a notable transition by signing with WWE, marking a new chapter in her career. Rousey’s official debut for the promotion took place at the 2018 Royal Rumble, where she made a memorable entrance. Recognizing her significant contributions to the sport, Rousey was honored with an induction into the prestigious UFC Hall of Fame in July of that same year.
