Reemerging from a seven-year hiatus, trailblazer of women’s MMA, Ronda Rousey, finds herself at the center of discussions regarding a potential UFC comeback. With Amanda Nunes’ retirement creating a void in the women’s bantamweight division, speculations arise about Rousey’s potential return to the octagon.

Seizing the opportunity for a comeback, UFC commentator Jon Anik suggests that the current moment presents the optimal timing for 36-year-old Ronda Rousey to step back into the octagon and don her signature four-ounce gloves.

Is it the perfect time for Ronda Rousey’s return to the Octagon

During a recent interview with MMA Fighting, Jon Anik was questioned about the likelihood of Ronda Rousey making a comeback, particularly in light of Endeavor’s recent acquisition of WWE, where the former women’s champion is presently affiliated. Anik believes that the stars have essentially aligned, creating a favorable scenario for Rousey’s potential return.

“If anyone is worthy of that time of opportunity, it’s probably Ronda Rousey. And I do believe she would be competitive because she would not enter that setting without the guarantee that she would be competitive.

“If ever there was a time, you’re right. It would be absolutely now, and I’m not gonna sit here and suggest she’d be a betting favorite against Julianna Peña or Raquel Pennington, but I can understand why people would be excited at the possibility, but in a true meritocracy, I do think that’s a little bit of a tough sell.”

Ronda Rousey has a remarkable UFC record

At the beginning of her professional career, Ronda Rousey left an indelible mark by securing victories through her signature armbar submission, establishing an impressive winning streak. Her exceptional performances had such a profound impact that they even convinced UFC president Dana White, who was initially against including women in the organization, to change his stance.

Maintaining her momentum, Rousey continued her dominance in the UFC by swiftly defeating her opponents within a single round, with the exception of her fierce rival Miesha Tate. However, her extraordinary reign came to a sudden halt when she suffered a devastating knockout defeat at the hands of Holly Holm during the memorable UFC 193 event in late 2015.

Following a short break from the sport, Ronda Rousey made a comeback in an attempt to regain the title, challenging the reigning champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 207. However, to the surprise of many, Rousey suffered a quick defeat, being knocked out by Nunes in just 48 seconds.
