In the headlining rematch at UFC 291, Justin Gaethje displayed a remarkable performance. With an unreal head kick knockout of Dustin Poirier, he not only earned the status of being the second-ever “BMF” champion but also secured the Performance of the Night award. This accomplishment marked his 12th consecutive appearance in the UFC where Gaethje outshined others and received a $50,000 bonus.

The event took place in Salt Lake City where four Performance of the Night bonuses were awarded. Unfortunately, no Fight of the Night was recognized. Derrick Lewis, Bobby Green, and Kevin Holland were among the recipients of these prestigious bonuses.

Lewis, the main card fighter, experienced a significant turning point in his career during that night. He managed to break his three-fight losing streak by delivering a jaw-dropping first-round knockout against Marcos Rogerio de Lima. The excitement began right from the start with an exhilarating flying knee, and Lewis seized the opportunity, securing an unforgettable victory. Additionally, this win enabled him to claim the title of the UFC’s all-time knockout leader with an impressive total of 14 knockout wins, surpassing welterweight slugger Matt Brown’s record.

In the cage, Kevin Holland, another fighter on the main card, showcased his adaptability and resilience as he skillfully turned the tables on Michael Chiesa, a submission specialist. As the first round unfolded, Holland unleashed an arm-triangle hold that compelled Chiesa to tap out. This triumph unequivocally demonstrated Holland’s prowess in various facets of the sport.
