Julija Stoliarenko commits to Flyweight division after Triumphant debut

With this triumphant debut, Stoliarenko is resolute about her future plans in the division. She firmly asserted that she won’t be returning to bantamweight or featherweight. Flyweight is now her permanent home, and she’s determined to make her mark in this weight class.

“I’m not coming back to bantamweight or featherweight for sure. Flyweight and only flyweight – that’s my home. That’s it. That’s my home,” Stoliarenko declared, showing her commitment to the new weight category.

Stoliarenko’s performance was nothing short of impressive, earning her tenth finish by first-round armbar. Despite becoming known for her armbar submissions, Stoliarenko revealed that it’s not a technique she actively seeks. It’s a natural instinct that comes to her when the opportunity presents itself.

“I don’t prepare that. I’m not preparing for the armbar. I never drill the armbar anymore. We stopped drilling it when I was a blue belt. It just comes to me. It’s natural to me,” Stoliarenko explained, highlighting her innate ability to execute the submission.

Her proficiency in the armbar was evident against McCann, as she capitalized on the opportunity and secured the submission victory swiftly. With such a dominant display in her flyweight debut, Stoliarenko has undoubtedly put the rest of the division on notice.
