LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – In an eventful UFC Vegas 77 last night at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Victoria Dudakova, a 24-year-old Russian prospect, made her UFC debut with an impressive TKO victory. However, the win came in a gruesome manner as her opponent, Istela Nunes, suffered a dislocated elbow just 34 seconds into the first round.

During the post-fight interview with the media, Dudakova expressed her concern for Nunes and hoped for her opponent’s quick recovery. She explained that she heard Nunes screaming but was uncertain about the severity of the injury. “I kept on attacking because, before the fight, the referee comes up to us, and he explains the rules to us- specifically, the referee told me that until he stops the fight and until he pulls you off, you do not stop, so I did not really know what to do. I saw that she was in agony [and I was thinking], do I punch or do I not then the referee finally came in and stopped the fight.”

Although Nunes was transported to the hospital, it is anticipated that she will fully recover. Dudakova expressed her concern for Nunes after the fight.

Dudakova is now 7-0 with six finishes. She hopes to return to action soon and is looking forward to fighting in front of her Russian fans.

“I want nothing but the speediest recovery from my opponent,” Added Dudakova. “I apologize that it occurred, but it wasn’t necessarily my responsibility. Yes, I did succeed, but this in no way reflects how I had hoped to succeed. I desired a confrontation. I was ready to defeat her in the first round, but this wasn’t how I had envisioned things to go.

Nunes is also looking forward to a speedy recovery. She posted on her Instagram story that she is “doing well” and that she will be “back in no time.”

Victoria Dudakova, a skilled competitor in the strawweight class, secured her maiden UFC victory in an unfortunate manner. Despite this, her division must reckon with her as she showcases impressive skills and determination.
