Combat sports icon Alistair Overeem has revealed some insights about his remarkable bodily transformation. Last month, MMA fans went crazy over a photograph of ‘The Demolition Man’ abandoning his enormous body for a much smaller frame. Of course, people instantly speculated that Overeem may be suffering from a medical condition. As it turns out, his unexpected shrinking has nothing to do with sickness, but rather with a lifestyle change that began with being a vegetarian.

“Meat is not good for you. It negatively affects you. Yes, it tastes delicious. Even now, I could still eat meat, but I just choose not to,” Overeem said during an appearance on Lovin’ Dubai.”

“I started doing detoxing. I have this special nutritionist, Julian VanHoven. He’s in Germany and South America so our sessions go through Skype, but he’s like, ‘Yep, we’re gonna detox.’ I’m like a soldier,” Overeem continued. “‘Okay, let’s go.’ When I met him, I instantly knew this guy has knowledge so we started working and I started taking these supplements in a reasonably high dosage which you can just do on an empty stomach, and after a couple of weeks, my diet, my appetite changed.”

Alistair Overeem speaks on how positive he has been since making some lifestyle changes

Alistair Overeem goes on to argue that meats, sweets, and other things that are typically harmful for the human body cause acidity in the body, which allows these parasites to thrive and cause the cravings we have for those specific foods. When asked about the acidity of fruits, Overeem stated:

“Fruit always alkalizes. That’s a misconception. Fruit has sugar? No. Fruit has fructose. Healthy. Fruit does not create acidity. It alkalizes. We are designed to eat fruit. We’re not designed to eat meat so this acidity/alkalinity has to do with also cancer and this is another way to prevent cancer. If you go on an alkaline diet, the cancer cells will go away. You’re not even going to get cancer.”

Fructose and glucose are the two forms of sugar found in fruit. The proportions will vary based on the fruit, but it is generally divided evenly. Glucose is a bad kind of sugar. This is what causes your blood sugar levels to rise and requires your body to produce insulin in order to metabolize it. Fructose, on the other hand, does not cause blood sugar levels to rise. Although Alistair Overeem’s dietary advice may be inaccurate, there is no proof that fruit is damaging to the human body unless ingested in large quantities.

Fruits and vegetables are also an effective approach to preventing cancers of the gut, mouth, throat, stomach, and lungs. They are not, however, a cure-all for cancer, as Overeem appears to believe. Whatever your thoughts are on his techniques or the information he decided to give, the truth remains that Alistair Overeem looks to be happy and healthy with his new diet and lifestyle, and that is the most important thing.
