Caeleb Dressel was born to Michael and Christina Dressel. He was born and raised in the Florida city of Green Cove Springs. His siblings, Kaitlyn, Tyler, and Sherridon Dressel are all swimmers.  He attended Clay High School in his hometown but trained with Sergio Lopez’s Bolles School Sharks team in Jacksonville. After graduating from Clay High School in 2014, he transferred to the University of Florida and joined the Florida Gators’ swimming and diving team.

Dressel became the fifth American to win five gold medals in a single Olympic Games since 1970 when he took home five at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics. The other four were Mark Spitz, Michael Phelps, Eric Heiden, and Matt Biondi. He also made swimming history by becoming the first male swimmer to ever win gold medals in the 50-meter freestyle, 100-meter freestyle, and 100-meter butterfly events at the same Olympics, since 1896. He currently holds world records in 100-meter butterfly (long and short course), 50m freestyle (short course), and 100m individual medley (short course).

Meghan Haila was born on 18th May in 1998. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Family and Child Sciences and Psychology, as well as Master’s degrees in Education and Marriage and Family Therapy/Counseling. She stopped competing after her undergraduate swimming season to pursue her dream of becoming a professional family therapist.

Caeleb Dressel attended Clay High School in Green Cove Springs, Florida, but trained with the Bolles School Sharks in Jacksonville, where he met Meghan. Both were members of the same swim club and moved to compete at the collegiate level. Meghan swam at Florida State with Caeleb’s older sister Kaitlyn for one season in 2015, while Caeleb went on to compete at the University of Florida.

Caeleb proposed to Meghan in November 2019. Meghan stated that it was the “easiest yes” of her life a year after their engagement. The couple eventually got married on Valentine’s Day weekend in the year 2021 in Florida, in front of their friends and family.
