American professional swimmer Caeleb Remel Dressel was born on August 16, 1996 in Green Cove Springs, Florida. Dressel is the third of four children. All his three siblings and his father were collegiate and high school competitive swimmers who have won awards. Dressel devoted himself to competitive year-round swimming by the age of eight. He is known for specializing in the freestyle, butterfly, and individual medley events. He participates in the International Swimming League as a swimmer with the Cali Condors.

Dressel is a two-time Olympian, seven-time Olympic gold winner, and holder of the world records for the 50-meter freestyle, 100-meter individual medley, and 100-meter butterfly (long course and short course) (short course). He won gold in the 100-meter freestyle, 100-meter butterfly, 50-meter freestyle, 4×100-meter medley relay, and 4×100-meter freestyle relay events at the Tokyo 2020. Dressel won his first Olympic medal, a gold medal, in the 4 X 100 meter freestyle relay at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he made his first appearance. Later, he won the 4×100 meter medley relay gold medal and took sixth place in the 100-metre freestyle individual event.

At the 2017 World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, he set a record by winning seven gold medals. He followed it up with nine medals, including six gold, at the 2018 World Swimming Championships in Hangzhou, and eight, comprising six golds, at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships in Gwangju.
