The Khelo India Junior Women’s Swimming Series 2022 continues to the final day on 21st August, with first set of events underway yesterday. The event is said to be held across the different zones in India, with entries registered as per different age groups. Khelo Indian Youth Games is aimed at developing the quality of sport in India, from the younger ages with better infrastructure facilities provided all across the sub-continent in various sports.
Swimming is an individual event and which involves four (4) strokes in swimming – freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. The event is aimed with an improvement at the grassroot level in the zonal rounds of the tournament. Events are classified under two categories- Prize Money and Developmental events. The winner of every group will receive Rs. 6000 for the same. The pool will be available from 6:30 AM-7:30 AM for warm-up, in which all events will be conducted as timed finals only in long course 50M pool.
The categories for Khelo India Youth Games includes U-17 and U-21 students, providing annual scholarships of ₹5 lakh over a lengthy duration to improve their skills in sport. The initiative was started in 2018 and has been highly successful across India, with 209 gold medals claimed in the debut event that year.
Eligibility for the tournament is as follows:
Women 18& Under – born 2004, 2005, 2006
Women 15& Under – born 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011
Participation is open for Women in the above groups only.
The event will not be telecasted anywhere, but results will be updated as and when it comes on our website.
