For a number of reasons, the Penrith Panthers vs Melbourne Storm betting analysis has lost some of its sparkle from a few weeks ago. First off, with three games remaining and an 18-2 record, Penrith leads 15-5 North Queensland by three games in the standings this season. For the majority of the first half of the season, these two clubs were 1-2, but Melbourne has slipped considerably in recent weeks, and at 13-7, they are barely clinging to a top four berth.

Even though the Eels are a good team, the Panthers just lost to Parramatta 34-10 and appeared to be a worse squad. Prior to then, Penrith had won nine straight games; strangely, their lone other defeat of the year was to Parramatta on May 6th, 22-20. Last Saturday, Penrith did regain its form by defeating the Raiders 26-6. The incident in which Panthers player Jaeman Salmon was referred to by Canberra coach Ricky Stuart as a “weak gutted dog” caused some controversy, but Penrith appears to have over it heading into the crucial encounter with Melbourne.

This season, the Storm and Penrith were tied for first place at 8-1 at one time. Then some injuries entered the picture, and Melbourne’s May 14 loss to the Panthers, 32-6, sent them into a bit of a tailspin. Although they had won two straight heading into Thursday’s rugby betting predictions, the Storm had only a 5-6 record over their previous 11 games. Last Friday, they defeated the Titans 32-14 and the Warriors 24-12, both of which were respectable victories over two of the bottom three clubs on the standings.
