The World Shooting Para Sports (WSPS) World Cup 2022 got underway in Changwon, Korea on August 18 and will continue till August 24.

The World Shooting Para Sports (WSPS) World Cup 2022 got underway in Changwon, Korea on August 18 and will continue till August 24. The matches will take place at the Changwon International Shooting Range, Korea. The tournament will follow the ISSF and WSPS rules and regulations.

Tokyo Paralympics medallists Avani Lekhara and Singhraj Adhana will lead the Indian team at the Changwon World Cup 2022. India has sent a 14-member contingent to the championship. Having shown top-quality performances in the past editions of the WSPS World Cups, team India will hope to dominate yet again on the international circuit.

In the previous World Cup held in Munich, India topped the overall medal table, finishing with a total of 10 medals. This included six gold, three silver, and one bronze, out of which two golds came on the last day of the event. Singhraj Adhana shone the brightest by winning four medals with two golds in P4 Mixed 50m SH1 and P4 Mixed team 50m SH1. Experienced campaigner Rahul Jakhar bagged three medals in the championship.

Earlier, Avani Lekhara clinched two Golds for India at the Chateauroux World Cup 2022. She won the R2- Women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 and R8- Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions SH1 events. This World Cup even served as a qualifying event for the Paris Paralympic Games 2024. Along with Avani, Sriharsha Devaraddi Ramakrishna secured the quota place for Paralympics 2024. He did it by claiming the gold medal with a score of 253.1 in the mixed 10m Air rifle SH2. India concluded the World Cup bagging 12 medals with a second-place finish on the medal tally.
