Simone Biles is regarded as the greatest artistic gymnast of all time by many. Biles was born on March 14, 1997, in Columbus, Ohio. Shanon Biles who was Simone’s birth mother was unable to look after Simone or her other kids, Adria, Ashley, and Tevin. All four spent time in foster care. Simone and her younger sister Adria were formally adopted by Biles’ maternal grandfather Ron Biles and his second wife Nellie Cayetano Biles in 2003. Biles obtained Belizean citizenship through her adoptive mother and considered Belize to be her second home.
Young Simone was raised in the Houston metro area in Spring, Texas. She began training under Aimee Boorman when she was only eight years old. She was a member of the American Junior National Team in 2012. The year 2013 marked the beginning of her international career as a senior player when she participated in the American Cup, a FIG World Cup competition. In March 2013, Biles made her competitive debut. Biles won 14 world championship medals before competing in her first Olympics in 2016, reaching a feat no other American gymnast had ever accomplished.

She took home five medals in her first Olympics, including four gold and one bronze. She won gold medals at the Olympics in the all-around, floor exercises, vaults, and team competitions.
As she prepared to compete in her second mega event, the Tokyo Olympics 2020, she was defending four titles. However, Biles’ did something unthinkable to many. She withdrew from the competition in the middle, owing to mental health. This news made headlines and a lot of athletes supported Biles’ decision and praised her for such a bold decision, although she did face a lot of criticism. Before her withdrawal, she had already won the bronze medal on the balancing beam and the silver medal in the team competition.
