Vikas Thakur is set to compete in the Men’s 96 kg class at the Commonwealth Games 2022. The 28-year-old will be eyeing his third medal at Birmingham 2022. The Ludhiana-born clinched a Silver medal in the men’s 85 kg class at Glasgow 2014. With overall 333kg, (150kg + 183kg), he stood second to New Zealand’s Richard Patterson (335 kg) in the final. Vikas added another medal to his CWG tally, winning Bronze in the 94 kg weight class.

Vikas is a 7-time Nationals champion and has won multiple medals in Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships. Vikas’s family has been very supportive in his sports career. In fact, it was his father who encouraged him to make a career in sports. At the age of 9, he took up Weightlifting and has never looked back since then.
