WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury confirmed he will face Anthony Joshua in their much-anticipated bout on August 14 in Saudi Arabia. Earlier, promoter Eddie Hearn – who represents Joshua – confirmed much of the same news. However, he also added that Fury was yet to make the fight official. Fury’s promoter Frank Warren revealed that was down to certain bank guarantees.

But whatever issues were in the way no longer appear to be a hold up. Fury posted a video on Twitter and confirmed the date and location of the fight.

“I have got some massive news. I have just got off the phone with Prince Khalid of Saudi Arabia and he told me this fight is 100 per cent on, August 14,” Fury said in the video.

“All eyes of the world will be on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I cannot wait, I repeat, cannot wait to smash Anthony Joshua on the biggest stage of all-time. This is going to be the biggest sporting event ever to grace the planet Earth. Do not miss it.”

The price to host the fight in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is reportedly between $150 and $200 million.

Fury vs Joshua set to eclipse past bouts

The bout between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua isn’t the first all-British boxing superfight in the history of the sport. However, it will be the biggest in terms of money involved.

Past bouts include David Haye vs Tony Bellew, Carl Froch vs George Groves, Frank Bruno vs Lennox Lewis and Nigel Benn vs Chris Eubank.

For his part, David Haye is glad to see the fight happening. He also predicts Joshua will win, but expects that whoever does win will do so by stoppage.

“I like the dedication of Joshua and I think he has a good chance of winning it early. People think I’m crazy but that’s just the way I see it,” said Haye.

“I think it’s a great fight and I really see it being won by stoppage. I’m just so glad we’re so close to seeing it happen.”

Fury’s last bout was his famed match against Deontay Wilder in Las Vegas, which he won convincingly. Joshau, for his part, defeated Kubrat Pulev for his three belts after avenging his only career loss to Andy Ruiz Jr.
