The Tokyo Olympics 2020 has seen plenty of disappointments for the Indian contingent. The Table Tennis team saw massive disappointment with Sutirtha Mukherjee and Manika Batra getting eliminated. The India men’s team archery event also failed against South Korea. Sumit Nagal was also eliminated by the efficient Daniil Medvedev. Fencing saw a historic debut for India as CA Bhavani Devi won a match but she was eliminated. Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, who had secured a great win earlier, lost their other match in straight games.

Sharath Kamal entered the next round. But he faces an uphill task to stay alive in the tournament as he faces Ma Long, the Olympic and world champion as well as one of the greatest in the business. The field is shrinking now, with the skeet shooters also failing to reach the final. The hopes are now pinned on the mixed event team of Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary. They will be gunning for a medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event.

Here is a look at the entire schedule for India on July 27, a day where they could win another medal.

India will be gunning for more medals

The Indian contingent will be gunning for more medals as the tournament progresses. India might have a chance on the final three days with the wrestlers stepping up on August 4 till 6. Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia and Ravi Dahiya will all be aiming to give India glory on the biggest stage of them all.

Vinesh suffered a knee injury in Rio 2016 but has bounced back and looked incredibly good in the build-up to Tokyo. She has been touted as a medal prospect as well as Bajrang. Neeraj Chopra is a dark horse but the expectations from the rest of the field are pretty low. In her last Olympics, MC Mary Kom could also spring a surprise and give India something to cheer as she aims to secure boxing history.
