It is set to be an action-packed day for India at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 on Sunday (July 25). Indian shooters Manu Bhaker and Yashaswini Singh Deswal began the day’s action in the women’s 10m air pistol event. After that, Mairaj Ahmed Khan and Angad Vir Singh featured in the men’s skeet shooting round, which is still ongoing. Sania Mirza and Ankita Raina suffered a shock loss in the tennis women’s doubles tournament. Other medal hopefuls in PV Sindhu and MC Mary Kom also begin their campaigns on Sunday. Unlike Saturday, there will be less medal events but the day will see plenty of exciting sports action. (Full Tokyo 2020 coverage)

Saturday was a mixed bag for India. Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu won India’s first medal of the day when she won a silver medal in the women’s 49kg category in weightlifting. However, the rest of the day could have been better.

India could have done better in certain events but ended up falling short. This was evident at the beginning of the Day when the women s 10m air rifle shooters from India got knocked out before the final.

The archery mixed team also suffered some disappointment. However, Chanu’s medal made up for that in a big way.

Sunday offers India at least two chances to add to their medal tally. But a number of athletes who will be hopeful of winning medals also start their campaigns on the day.
