South American Games 2022 Asuncion, Multi-Sport Event: Results, Medal Standings

Here are the results of Day 3 for the South American Games 2022.

The South American Games 2022 Asuncion got underway on October 1 and will continue till October 15, 2022 in Asuncion, Paraguay. Brazil (98) is currently leading in the medal table, accumulating 42 Gold, 34 Silver, and 22 Bronze medals. It is being closely followed by Colombia which has bagged 82 medals in the multi-sport event. While Chile is in third position with 33 medals in total.

In Swimming, Brazil maintained its dominance in aquatics at the South American Games.  The Brazilian team has collected 35 medals overall after the second day of competition, including 18 gold, 12 silver, and 5 bronze. In the men’s 50m fly, Gabriel Santos broke the Games Record, clocking  24.00. Brandonn Almeida also performed admirably for Brazil, taking first place in the 400m IM. She even set a new Games Record in the competition by finishing with a time of 4:19.25. Evandro Silva added a gold medal to his 100m breaststroke victory by winning the 200m breaststroke. In addition to setting a new Games Record, Silva’s time of 2:13.22 made it a 1-2 Brazilian victory, with compatriot Caio Pumputis winning the silver medal in 2:13.96.

On the third day of the South American Games in Asunción, Colombia took all of the gold medals in diving and speed skating. Sebastián Villa Castaeda improved from silver to gold in the men’s 10-meter platform final in diving with a score of 430.60, beating off Jess Liranzo, a former Venezuelan Olympic diver who represented Peru, who scored 409.75. In the women’s 3m springboard final, Viviana Uribe Bermudez won another gold medal for Colombia, besting her compatriot Daniela Zapata Correa with a score of 274.10 to 272.5. 

The Colombians won two more gold medals in the roller events as speed skating came to an end.  Mateo Rico Garcia took first place in the men’s 10,000 m points event, scoring 26 points in total. With a total of 35 points, Gabriela Rueda defeated her teammate Luz Karime Garzón to win the women’s title. Brazil’s quartet won the triathlon competition, finishing first in 1 hour, 17 minutes, and 22 seconds.
