Punam Yadav will aim for her third successive medal in Weightlifting at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022. In Glasgow 2014, Punam clinched the Bronze medal in the women’s 63 kg weight class by lifting a total weight of 202 kg, 88 kg in Snatch, and 114 kg in the Clean & Jerk category. She bettered her performance in the Gold Coast 2018 and secured the prestigious Gold medal with a combined lift of 222 kg (100 kg in Snatch & 122 kg in Clean and Jerk) in Women’s 69 kg.

Punam will be high on confidence after winning the Gold in women’s 76 kg in the National Weightlifting Championships held at KIIT University in Bhubaneswar. She also created a new National record in Snatch (98 kg) with an overall lift of 214 kg in her event. She is also a two-time Silver medallist in the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships and was awarded the Yash Bharati award by the Uttar Pradesh government.
