Keith Joseph, the President of the Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees (CANOC), has stated that cricket should be a part of the sports program of the Los Angeles 2028 (LA28) Olympic Games. The International Cricket Council (ICC) and Cricket West Indies (CWI) drive for inclusion in the forthcoming event has received formal support from Joseph, who claims that the T20 World Cup in 2024, which will be held in the West Indies, will “set the foundation” for cricket’s return to the Olympic Games. Although Caribbean nations played as individual teams in the Commonwealth Games 2022, only Barbados had previously competed in women’s T20 cricket. Joseph did, however, recognize the contribution made over time by the West Indies cricket team to bringing the Islands together.
