The first edition of the Khelo India Women's Judo Tournament is scheduled to be held from August 27, 2022.
The first edition of the Khelo India Women’s Judo Tournament will take place over four zones in India, starting with the East Zone on August 27, 2022. The venue for the East Zone is staged at SAI Centre, Guwahati in Assam. It will then be followed by the South Zone, North Zone, and West Zone. The athletes will compete in four age divisions: Sub-Junior (12–15 years), Cadet (15–17 years), Junior (15–20 years), and Senior (15 years and above). Post the Zonal competitions, the National Round is scheduled to take place from Oct 20 to Oct 23 at the KD Jadhav Indoor Hall in New Delhi.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (YAS) launched the Judo tournament through the Government of India’s flagship program, Khelo India. Earlier, the YAS inaugurated the Khelo India Junior Women’s swimming series 2022 and Khelo India Women’s Hockey League U16 2022. The goal behind these competitions is to encourage the participation of women across various sporting disciplines in India. The Department of Sports has also allotted a total amount of Rs. 1.74 crores for the successful conduction of the events, including Rs. 48.85 Lakh prize money.
