The San Jose Sharks will welcome the Toronto Maple Leafs to the SAP Center for an NHL game on Thursday. San Jose were beaten by the Vegas Golden Knights 4-2 in their last game. Matt Nieto and Nico Sturm were the two players to score the goals from the Sharks as they fell short by 2 goals to the Golden Knights.

After the game, Nico Sturm said, “Today, like so many games this season already, I feel like we’re playing a good opponent and we’re shooting ourselves in the foot in a game that was absolutely winnable. Today was winnable.”

Just like their opponents, the Toronto Maple Leafs also lost their last game to the Vegas Golden Knights 3-1. William Nylander scored the only goal for the Maple Leafs. Michael Bunting and John Tavares had 4 and 3 shots on goal respectively but were unable to find the net as Logan Thompson was in inspired form.

After the game, Toronto coach Sheldon Keefe admitted that his team got beat by the better team on the night. Speaking after the game, he said,  “We just got beat by a team that was better than us tonight in all facets.”
