Jamie Randolph Benn born on 18 July 1989 in Victoria, Canada is a Canadian professional ice hockey winger and captain of the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League. Benn played his junior hockey career with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League (WHL) before turning professional. He represented Canada at the 2009 World Junior Championships, where he helped capture a gold medal. With Team Canada, he won a gold medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

He is the younger brother of defenseman Jordie Benn, who plays for the Minnesota Wild, and Jamie’s former teammate. In the 2014–15 season, Benn was awarded the Art Ross Trophy as the league’s leading scorer with 87 points. The Stars went to the Stanley Cup Final in 2020 under his leadership. Benn was overlooked for much of his early hockey career. He was ignored by major junior teams as a 16- and 17-year-old growing up in Victoria.

NHL and National Debut

Benn had to wait until the fifth round (No. 129) before the Dallas Stars selected him in the 2007 NHL Draft. He was left off the list of invitees to Canada’s orientation camp for the 2014 Sochi Olympics. Canada eventually corrected the oversight, adding Benn just before the start of the Games. Benn scored the game’s only goal in the semifinal victory against the United States that sent Canada to the gold-medal game, where it defeated Sweden 3-0. Benn established himself among the NHL’s elite. He was named to the First All-Star Team in 2013-14. Jamie has won number 14 for Dallas Stars and number 22 for the Canadian National Men’s Hockey Team.
