On Wednesday at Madison Square Garden, Jaroslav Halak will start for the Boston Bruins against the New York Rangers. In 27 games versus the Rangers, the 33-year-old goaltender is 18-8-0 with a 2.40 goals-against average, .928 save percentage and three shutouts. On Jan. 19, when Tuukka Rask departed the game with a concussion he received in the first period, he made 11 stops in a 3-2 defeat to New York at home. In Tuesday’s 3-1 victory over the New York Islanders at TD Garden, Rask had 28 saves. In the second game of back-to-back contests this season, Boston is 7-1-1.

After winning five of their previous seven, the Rangers, who have dropped their last two games (0-1-1), will start rookie Alexandar Georgiev (5-2-0). During a five-game point run, Boston Bruins player David Pastrnak has three goals and six assists. Mika Zibanejad, a center for the Rangers, has 17 points (nine goals, eight assists) in his last nine games including a three-game point streak of four goals and four assists. With 52 points, he has already exceeded his NHL single-season best (21 goals, 31 points).
