Montreal Canadiens will host the Winnipeg Jets at Bell Centre for an NHL preseason game on Thursday. Montreal have started their preseason badly as they lost their last two games with the latest loss coming at the hands of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Goals from Denis Malgin, Nick Abruzzese and Nicholas Robertson condemned the Canadiens to a second straight loss. Montreal goaltender Sam Montembeault had a good game as he allowed only one goal despite facing 15 shots on goal. After the game, he said, “I was a little bit nervous at the beginning of the game. It was travel for the first game, too.”
The Winnipeg Jets on the other hand come into this game on the back of a 5-3 win over the Ottawa Senators. Two goals from Daniel Torgersson and one goal each from Kyle Connor, Mikey Eyssimont and Ville Heinola ensured that Winnipeg registered their first win of the preseason. After the game, forward Mason Appleton said, “The pace was right today, we were getting up and down the ice and working hard.”
