The Detroit Red Wings will welcome the Washington Capitals to Little Caesars Arena for an NHL preseason game on Friday. Detroit lost their last game 4-2 against the Chicago Blackhawks. Forward Adam Erne was the only player to score two goals for the Red Wings as the rest of the team could not add to the tally. Head coach Derek Lalonde said after the game, “I liked our push in the third. I thought we did some good things. For the most part, I thought we did some pretty good things. I’m pretty happy overall.”

Elsewhere, the Washington Capitals registered a 3-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers in their last game. A brace from Dylan Storme and a goal from Connor Brown was enough to see off Philadelphia whose only goal came from Kevin Hayes. Goaltender Charlie Lindgren had a great game as he stopped all the 13 shots he faced. After the game, he said, “It felt good. That’s exactly how I want my first game to go. I thought our guys did an awesome job. It’s a great way to build a little bit of confidence.”
