The match between the Colorado Avalanche vs Chicago Blackhawks will take place at Ball Arena on Wednesday, October 12 at 9:30 PM ET.
It’s that time of year once more after a brief offseason. Back is hockey. The Colorado Avalanche host the Chicago Blackhawks to open the 2022–23 season as they begin their title defense. The coverage gets going at 7:30. The Stanley Cup Banner Raising Ceremony at Ball Arena will be broadcast on TNT at MT.
For the second year in a row, the Central Division rivals square off on Opening Night. Last season, Colorado had a perfect 4-0 record against the Hawks, winning 4-2 in the season opener. Chicago will be the subject of three games this season, with the second one taking place in the Windy City on January 12. On March 20, the Blackhawks return to Denver to finish the season series.
In the history of the club, Colorado and Chicago will meet for the fourth time in the season opener, with the Avs taking all three contests. Since coming to Colorado in 1995–96, the Avalanche have a 55–32–11 record versus the Blackhawks and an overall record of 75–55–9. As the Avalanche’s head coach, Jared Bednar is 5-1 in the first game of the season.
