NBA Report: Portland's last minute flurry upset Boston Celtics

Jusuf Nurkic's two point jumper at the clutch time wins it for Portland Trail Blazers as Boston Celtics failed to score in the 4th quarter.

Portland Trail Blazers late fight back and Jusuf Nurkic’s two-point shot at the clutch time and drew the foul with 14 seconds left on the clock to cause Boston an upset of the season. Boston failed to score a field goal in the final seven minutes as they fell short by four points as the score line was 109-105 to the Portland Trail Blazers. Portland entered the game as the third-worst team defense team in the league. Damian Lillard was also unavailable for the game. 

Portland Started the first quarter with a bang scoring 4 consecutive points as Anfernee Simons continued his good shooting form and shot a three-point jumper early in the first quarter as Portland ended the first quarter with a 5 point lead at 30-25. 

Jusuf Nurkic scored a 7 foot hook up jump shot to begin the 2nd quarter and scored six points in the quarter. Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown scored on the play for the Celtics as they went into the lead heading into halftime ending the 2nd quarter with a four-point lead. At halftime, the score line was 54-58.

Boston fails to score as Portland runs away with the win

Jayson Tatum scored a 22-foot two-point pull jump shot to take the lead to six points. Tatum and Jusuf Nurkic exchanged shots after shots at the basket. Jusuf Nurkic drew the foul and scored two free throws with 5:31 left on the clock tying the score 70-70.

Boston committed a lot of fouls in the third quarter as Portland scored off the free throws. Nurkic scored 11 points in the third quarter as Portland ended the third quarter with a one-point advantage. 

The game was well poised heading into the fourth quarter. Boston went on an 8-0 point stretch early into the fourth quarter. Payton Pritchard scored a field goal off the assist from Al Horford which was the last field goal that Boston scored taking the lead to 9 points.

CJ McCollum scored a three-point jumper and two points shot to reduce the lead to six points. Robert Covington scored a three-point jumper with 32.4 seconds on the clock to go into the lead by one point at 103-102. Portland outscored Boston 6 – 3 in the final 30 seconds to win the game.

Jusuf Nurkic was the top performer of the game scoring 29 points, 17 rebounds and 6 assists. Jayson Tatum scored a double-double with 27 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.
