Francis Ngannou has been connected to a lot of heavyweight heavyweights, and now the former UFC star has piqued Floyd Mayweather’s interest. Ngannou has voiced a desire to participate in boxing’s heavyweight division after leaving MMA, with Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder two names usually cited as potential opponents.

Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs) spoke with BetOnline.ag on Wednesday on a variety of issues, including the status of boxing and what advice he would give to a younger boxer. The discussion was on MMA athletes transitioning to the sweet science, whether through demonstrations or even pro-fights. Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou’s name was mentioned among others, and Mayweather particularly highlighted him.

“I would love to work with him, actually,” Mayweather said. “I would love to work with him; I would love to sign him to Mayweather Promotions. Very skilled guy, he was unbelievable from the highlights that I was able to see in MMA. I would like to work with him someday. If he wants to fight one of the top heavyweight guys, he should do it.”
