Nate Diaz, a former UFC fighter, is about to make his boxing debut. Diaz left the major MMA company last year after completing his contract at UFC 279. In the main event, the Stockton fan favorite submitted Tony Ferguson to conclude his stint on the sport’s grandest stage on the front foot.

Diaz will next attempt to begin his career in a new sport in a similarly successful manner. To do so, he must put YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul on his first losing streak as a professional pugilist.

After defeating MMA stars Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, and Anderson Silva, “The Problem Child” came up short in his first test against a recognized pro boxer this past February, losing a split decision against Britain’s Tommy Fury in Saudi Arabia. According to one of the sport’s most famous figures, Paul will likely achieve an easy and resounding comeback victory this August.

Jake Paul comes in as favorite

On August 5 in Dallas’ American Airlines Centre, Paul and Diaz will square off in the main event of a DAZN pay-per-view. As the event approaches, Matchroom Boxing CEO Eddie Hearn recently shared his opinion on how the main fight would unfold.

During an interview on The MMA Hour, the English promoter warned presenter Ariel Helwani that fight night will be brutal, with the former Disney star emerging triumphant.

“I watched clips of Nate Diaz hit pads. You know that it’s going to be a mismatch against Jake Paul, don’t you?” Hearn said. “Listen, I’ve only met him a couple times, what a gent. But for it to be a mismatch against Jake Paul… Yes, (Diaz will get smoked). It won’t go four (rounds). Unless it’s all a bit of a bluff by Nate, what I saw… But Ariel, you can see people hit pads and know whether they can (box). From what I saw, maybe you against Nate is a fifty-fifty,” Hearn continued. “And we’re talking about Jake Paul. We’re not talking about (Tyson) Fury or AJ (Anthony Joshua) fighting an MMA fighter. We’re talking about Jake Paul.”
