Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois: This weekend, Oleksandr Usyk defends his WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO heavyweight belts against Daniel Dubois. This is Usyk’s first fight since defending his title against Anthony Joshua in an instant rematch last August.
After defeating Joshua, many expected Usyk to face WBC champion Tyson Fury in an undisputed heavyweight bout, but it appears it wasn’t in the cards. Of course, Fury is preparing to face Francis Ngannou in a few months.
Instead of Fury, Usyk now has to fight Dubois as a mandatory challenger. But he’s no slacker. Dubois has a record of 19-1 with 18 knockouts. His sole blemish is a KO in the 10th round versus Joe Joyce in 2020. Dubois most recently destroyed Kevin Lerena on the undercard of Fury vs. Chisora 3 in December.
Denys Berinchyk vs. Anthony Yigit is the best bout on the undercard. Berinchyk is currently 17-0 after retaining the WBO International lightweight championship and winning the European lightweight title on the same Fury vs. Chisora night. In a bare-knuckle competition, the former Olympic silver medalist smashed the brakes off Artem Lobov.
