The match between Seattle Mariners vs Los Angeles Angels will take place at the T-Mobile Park on Friday, 17th June 2022 at 7:10 pm ET.
On Thursday, the Seattle Mariners will open a series against the Los Angeles Angels at T-Mobile Park. The Mariners have lost back-to-back series, reducing their record to 28-35 on the season. The Angels are not much better at 29-35, which can be attributed to their recent poor play, in which they have lost 18 of their last 20 games. Shohei Ohtani will start for the Angels, who have a 4-4 record, 3.65 ERA, and 1.12 WHIP through 54 1/3 innings of work. The reigning American League MVP has struggled as a pitcher recently, surrendering 10 earned runs in his previous 16 innings.

He’ll want to have a better showing against a Mariners squad he’s had success against in the past. He has a 2.37 ERA against Seattle since joining the league in 2018, and he has struck out 10 batters in both of his previous two appearances against them. This Mariners club has only scored seven runs in their past four games, and they rank sixth in the league in terms of runs per nine innings. Ohtani is expected to shine, since he has a history of shutting down the Mariners’ batters.
On the other hand, George Kirby, who is having a terrific rookie season with the Seattle Mariners, gets the call. He’s 1-1 with a 3.65 ERA and has three consecutive strong starts. Kirby has made seven starts, but this will be his first encounter with the Angels. The Angels led the majors in runs scored for a while, but their collapse has dropped them to 17th in runs per nine innings. Expect Kirby to continue his performance on Thursday against a lineup that has only scored two runs in their previous three games.
