The match between New York Yankees vs Tampa Bay Rays will take place at the Yankee Stadium on Teusday at 7:05 pm ET.
On Wednesday night, the New York Yankees will face the Tampa Bay Rays. The Yankees won the first game of the series 2-0, improving their record to an MLB-best 45-16. The Rays’ record presently stands at 35-26, with three losses in their past four games. Shane McClanahan, the Rays’ ace and Cy Young Award contender, will take the mound on Wednesday. McClanahan has a 7-1 record, a 1.87 ERA, and a 0.86 WHIP to his credit. The rookie southpaw won his last start against New York, pitching six excellent innings of one-run ball while striking out seven batters. He’ll aim to repeat his performance from a few starts ago against one of the top offences in baseball, but it’ll be more tough this time because he’ll be pitching on the road.
While McClanahan is unquestionably one of the top pitchers in baseball right now, the Yankees have some right-handed power hitters in Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and Josh Donaldson. In a fight of power vs power, it’ll be intriguing to see whether the Rays’ 25-year-old can shut down this lineup for the second straight start. Nestor Cortes, who is having a breakout season, will get the ball for the Yankees. He’ll be making his 12th start of the season, with a 5-2 record, 1.97 ERA, and 0.92 WHIP. Cortes had a rough effort last time out, but in nine of his 11 starts this season, he’s allowed two or less runs.
