On Saturday night in Cincinnati, St. Louis will play the second game of a three-game series. Prior to the All-Star break, the Cardinals defeated Cincinnati twice last weekend. After a good start to the year, St. Louis will be searching for stability over the second half of the season. However, because of their patchy performance, the Cardinals were never able to really have an influence in the National League Central.

Earlier this month, they went through a skid of losing six of seven games before recovering with five victories in their final seven games before the break. Before the series finale against Cincinnati was postponed last Sunday, St. Louis won two straight games against them. The Cardinals are tied with Philadelphia for the last NL Wild Card berth, but they are trailing Milwaukee in the NL East standings by a half-game.

Paul Goldschmidt leads the Cardinals in batting average (.329) and leads the team with 28 doubles and 19 home runs. Over the last ten games, Dylan Carlson is 10-for-31 with two RBI. The Reds’ top hitter, Brandon Drury, with a.275 average, 19 doubles, two triples, and 18 home runs. Over the last ten games, Jonathan India is 12-for-40 with a home run and five RBI.
