Pro Kabaddi League: UP Yoddha, Tamil Thalaivas to battle it out for their 2nd win

UP Yoddha, the GMR Group Owned PKL Franchise is ready to face Tamil Thalaivas in search of their second win on Tuesday (4th January). The Yoddhas are currently placed 7th in the Pro Kabaddi League table with 13 points to their kitty whereas the Tamil Thalaivas are placed 5th with 14 points. Both teams have faced tough opponents but showed their mettle and will be looking to get a win in the upcoming clash. Pardeep Narwal and Surender Gill have been leading the raiding unit for UP Yoddha with able help from Rohit Tomar and Sumit who have been performing consistently. The Match will be broadcast LIVE on Star Sports Network & Disney Hotstar, 8:30 PM onwards.

UP Yoddha will be going into this match to get 5 points as their last match against U Mumba ended up in a thrilling 28-28 draw. Tamil Thalaivas, will also be riding on the back of a 30-30 draw against Dabang Delhi K.C.

‘In the last game, we did very well defensively’

Ahead of the match, Jasveer Singh, Head Coach, UP Yoddha said, “The team has been improving consistently and we will be aiming to win our next match. I am sure we are going to see a better brand of Kabaddi going forward. In the last game, we did very well defensively and our raiders were sharp as well. We look to carry this momentum with us and hopefully we will leave the mat with 5 points.”

The two sides have faced each other eight times out of which UP Yoddha got the upper hand thrice, drawing thrice & losing twice. Sumit, the UP Yoddha defender is leading the successful tackle’s chart with 16 successful tackles while the Thalaivas man, Sagar has been the best at Super Tackles till now with 4 Super Tackles to his name. A nail-biting encounter is expected as UP Yoddha’s attack will lock horns against Tamil Thalaiva’s solid defense.

Earlier, UP Yoddha, with the help of Surender Gill and Sumit got a draw against U Mumba at the Sheraton Grand Whitefield Bengaluru. The game saw UP Yoddha carry their defensive momentum as they kept the U Mumba attackers at bay in an enthralling 28-28 draw. CSurender Gill led the scoring chart for UP Yoddha with 8 points followed by Sumit who earned 6 points from his rock solid defensive performance.
