Tamil Thalaivas made their first appearance in the Pro Kabaddi League in 2017. Since joining the PKL, their performance has been under par and way below the expectations of the fans and management. The team has never reached the playoffs and more often found itself at the bottom of the table. The team never lacked the presence of big names as they had the likes of Manjeet Chhillar, Rahul Chaudhari, Ajay Thakur, and Manjeet Dahiya. But, the side failed to capitalize on their chances despite having big names.
During the 2022 PKL auction, Tamil Thalaivas scripted history by signing Pawan Kumar Sehrawat for a gigantic amount of Rs. 2.26 Crores. This made Pawan the most expensive player in the history of the PKL. Experienced raider Pawan will get assistance from Ajinkya Pawar and Himanshu in the raiding department. Sagar Rathee will lead the defense unit of Thalaivas. In the previous season, Sagar had an amazing outing as he was the second-best defender of the tournament with 74 tackle points in 22 matches.
