The 2023 Hockey World Cup will begin on January 13 in Odisha, with four games scheduled on the first day. First up is Argentina vs. South Africa, then Australia vs. France, England vs. Wales, and India vs. Spain. Hosts India will be motivated to win the World Cup once more. In 1975, the Indian team captured its lone World Cup championship. The home team finished sixth in the previous iteration of the major event, which took place in India in 2018.

The tournament’s reigning champion is Belgium. On Saturday, they will play their first game against South Korea. Argentina and South Africa will play in the mega event’s opening match tomorrow at 1:00 IST at the Kalinga Stadium. Tomorrow night at 7:00 IST at the Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium, the home team, India, will play their opening match against Spain. The top three teams in each group move on to the second round, which is then followed by the semifinals, final, and quarterfinals.

Pools

Pool A: Australia, South Africa, France, Argentina.

Pool B: Belgium, Japan, Korea, Germany.

Pool C: Netherlands, Chile, Malaysia, New Zealand.

Pool D: India, Wales, Spain, England.

The top team from Pool D will gain a direct entry into the quarterfinals, while three of the four teams from Pool D will move on to the second round. January 15: England vs. India, 7.00 pm IST, Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium, Rourkela.

Ticket information

Tickets for the Hockey World Cup are offered online through Paytm Insider. People must confirm their tickets in person at a box office at the stadiums even though they can book them online. Hockey fans can register online and purchase tickets by providing their mobile number, email address, and photo ID. For Indian matches, tickets cost Rs 200, Rs 400, and Rs 500. Tickets for non-Indian matches cost Rs 100, Rs 200, and Rs 500.

Live broadcasts of Hockey World Cup matches will be available in India on Star Sports First, Star Sports Select 2, and Star Sports Select 2 HD. On Disney+ Hotstar, live streaming will be available. Additionally, fans can watch live Team India games on DD Sports for nothing. Beginning at 7:00 IST on Friday, the first game will be played.
