Verstappen not only won his second F1 drivers’ championship in 2022 but also set the record for the most victories in a season with 14 grand prix triumphs. And while one team dominance is a typical occurrence in grand prix racing, Horner believes that Verstappen’s assault this year stands out because to its unique characteristics. When asked if he thought 2022 was the most dominant driver-driven season he had ever witnessed, Horner responded, “There have been years of Mercedes dominance, but I think as an individual driver, definitely yes. Within 22 races, he has already won the most Grands Prix in a single year. Additionally, he has won two sprint events, though not all of them from pole position. Many of his achievements required him to compete and struggle for them. “I believe that Max has had an absolutely great year when we take a look back at the conclusion of the year. He did not misplace any wheels. He has performed flawlessly the entire season. The degree of consistency he has been able to maintain is astounding.

Compare with Vettal ?

Red Bull has won both championships for the first time since the glory years it experienced with Sebastian Vettel from 2010 to 2013. This includes the constructors’ championship. Comparing the two drivers, Horner believes Verstappen is not receiving the credit he merits given how well he is currently driving. They are two incredibly successful drivers who are completely different from one another, he remarked. “I believe that Sebastian is among the greatest and most successful drivers in the sport based on what he has accomplished throughout his career. “But Max, I believe we are genuinely experiencing something quite unique in what we are seeing now and this year. In fact, I believe that sometimes his accomplishments don’t get the credit they deserve because, in my opinion, what we’ve seen this year was an absolutely spectacular effort from a driver who is very much at the top of his game.

DNA of the Team

In addition, Verstappen and Vettel’s success, according to Horner, is due in part to the cars and performance Red Bull contributed to the development of. The same individuals who carried out Sebastian’s actions with Max are present in large numbers in the engineering office, the garage, and back at the factory, he claimed. “I believe that being a race-based squad is in our team’s DNA. We are a racing team that always tests the limits. We race aggressively and with the intention of giving it our absolute best effort. This is our passion. Dietrich’s [Mateschitz] maxim, “No risk, no fun,” guides our actions.
