Formula One’s Icon James Hunt is recognised for his remarkable skill on the track as well as his renowned charisma off the track. He debuted in Formula One in 1973, driving for the Hesketh Racing team. Hunt won the 1976 World Drivers’ Championship in his first year with McLaren. The Briton retired halfway through the 1979 season. During his 1970s and 1980s heyday, the late, great British superstar achieved unrivaled fame as a champion and a playboy.

1976 Japanese Grand Prix

Hunt was at the peak of his career in the 70’s. Freddie Hunt who is the son of the late driver revealed that during the precedings of the 1976 Japanese Grand Prix his father bedded 35 British Airways air hostesses. Freddie, who was born after another 11 years, revealed “There were witnesses. There was a fresh supply of hostesses. They would come to the hotel, stop over, then get on the plane the next day. There was a different one every night.”

‘He wasn’t a cokehead’

Hunt’s son has also made another revelation of his father using drugs during his run in Formula One and the Briton racer to be a complete ladies man. “I can’t vouch for the number of women but I know that Dad wasn’t a junky. He just liked getting loose at parties. He took coke, but he wasn’t a cokehead. We do behave quite similarly. Then again, my mum was pretty naughty too.” expressed Freddie.
