Mclaren adds a permanent Senna logo to their car in honor of the legend

From the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix forward, Senna's insignia will be permanently displayed on McLaren F1 vehicles’ halo.

The late Brazilian icon Aryton Senna, who won all three of his Formula One World Championships, as well as a record six Monaco Grand Prix with McLaren, will have his memory imprinted on the MCL36 this weekend at the Monaco Grand Prix and beyond. From the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix forward, Senna’s insignia will be permanently displayed on McLaren F1 vehicles’ halo.

‘Can’t think of a better race’

McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown expressed that the decision was made to mark their commitment to celebrate the Brazilian’s legacy. “Starting from the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix, the McLaren MCL36 will carry the Senna logo, marking our commitment to celebrate his legacy. I can’t think of a better race than the Monaco Grand Prix to commence this recognition of Ayrton’s life.”

Aryton Senna has won the Grand Prix six times, more than any other driver, Senna proved that his skill and ability behind the wheel of an F1 car could rarely be matched. Brown added that this step they’ve taken is permanent and is done to remind them and the fans of the unmatched legacy and talent the Brazilian driver possessed. This addition to our F1 race cars will be permanent and has been added with the support of the Senna family. It will serve as a constant reminder of Ayrton Senna’s sensational talent for us as a team, and for all our fans around the world.” added the CEO.

Ayrton Senna is, and always will be a legend. His performances with McLaren, which earned him three Drivers’ World Championships, cemented his place as one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers. When he sadly passed away in 1994, the whole motorsport world mourned an irreparable loss, but his legacy lives on in the hearts and thoughts of Formula 1 fans worldwide.
